With a
focus on the individual, Brandon Hall is designed for college bound
students who, for a variety of reasons, need very small group or
one-to-one class instruction in an educational environment that
emphasizes organization, structure, accountability, the ordering
of priorities, compensatory skills, and multi-sensory instruction. The students are traditional learners or those with learning
disabilities, attention deficit disorders, or with other learning
issues. As an accredited, nonprofit, nonsectarian,
coeducational day and boys' boarding school for students in grades
4-12, Brandon Hall enrolls approximately 130 students with
a very low teacher-pupil ratio. It has often been referred
to as "the intensive care of education" because of its
small classes and effective programs. The school also offers
a postgraduate year as well as a summer school in which students
may earn up to one and half units. International students find that English as a Second Language (ESL) courses also provide
individual attention for optimum success. Qualified pupils who perform
at grade level but are behind in earning credits may profit from
the one-to-one classes in which a student may earn one unit in a
semester. Unique about the school is the intensity of the
focus on the individual within a very traditional prep school setting
that is both challenging and nurturing. Students can be
involved in over nine sports as well as a strong fine arts program
in art, music, and drama. While located in the quiet suburbs of
North Atlanta on the Chattahoochee River, the school's proximity
to the educational, cultural and recreational opportunities of downtown
Atlanta makes the school attractive as both a day and boys' boarding
school. The school is easily accessible from Hartsfield-Jackson International
Airport and the Interstate highway system. The school is not a proper
setting for students with acute learning disabilities or severe
emotional or disciplinary problems.
- Brandon
Hall adheres to rolling admissions in which qualified
students may be admitted throughout the year, provided space is
available. For students applying for fall enrollment, the school
encourages applicants to send information in during the preceding
winter/spring.
- Prior to the interview with the student, the
school desires that parents complete an application and have copies of transcripts and testing available for review.
- Whenever possible, the school desires that both parents attend the interview.
- The school reserves the right to waive the interview for international
students who apply through an educational consultant or
who provide sufficient information to determine if the school may
be a proper placement.
Prior to the interview, parents and students
are asked to review the schools web page or admissions materials
to be familiar with the schools mission and literature so
that questions can be asked and answered during the appointment.

Tuition and Fees Explanation
of Tuition and Fees Brandon
Hall provides a unique college preparatory day and boarding school
that provides small group as well as one-to-one and two-to-one classes
in a traditional setting with well-rounded programs in athletics
and fine arts. The class sizes, therefore, necessitate a higher
tuition rate. Determination
of Tuition for Upper and Middle Schools Group
Classes (6 periods) : Based
on a very low teacher/pupil ratio, there is a set tuition for both
the Upper and Middle School classes. In addition to the group tuition,
there is an additional cost per class/subject for a student
enrolled in a one-to-one class or a two-to-one class (see below). *One-to-One
classes (based on availability;
limited sections) are designed
for the student who: Is far below grade and skill levels
in a subject; Has a learning disability that necessitates
several accommodations or an extraordinary amount of individual
attention; Needs to take two subjects in one year
( Example: English I, first semester and English II, second
semester ). Two years of credit may be earned in one year;
prior approval required. A student not completing the course in
the allotted time continues into summer school with additional tuition
incurred. Needs instruction in English as a Second
Language (ESL) and has difficulty in a group class; Desires a special course not offered
in group classes. *Two-to-One
classes (based on availability;
limited sections) With
the approval of the academic office and an assessment of the students
involved, the two-to-one classes are limited to two students with
similar needs as described for one-to-one classes. English
as a Second Language (ESL) When
initially enrolled, ESL students are usually placed in small group
classes or, if needed, one-to-one or two-to-one classes. Certified
by the U.S. Immigration Service to issue I-20 forms to qualifying
international students, Brandon Hall does not issue an I-20 until
a student is actually admitted to the school. There is a $500 annual
fee to issue and maintain I-20 forms. International boarding students
should have a local guardian - a person or family with whom they
can spend the short vacation periods.
The fee is based on the grade level and type of program. It is an initial supply fee which covers the following: initial textbooks, book bags, assignment notebooks, school supplies, physical education uniforms and equipment, school publications, student services, school planned social activities, Parents Guild membership, graduation fees (seniors), school rings (juniors/new seniors), science/fine arts lab fees, planned field trips, damage deposits (boarders), and other items relevant to the grade level and student status. As the year progresses, other deductions from the supply account can include additional school supplies, workbooks or textbooks, athletic uniforms/equipment rentals, application fees for seniors, medical services, weekend allowances, activities, and transportation for boarders etc. Note: Especially for seven-day boarding students, the business office may need to bill parents to replenish the initial supply accounts as funds are used for the weekend activities and allowances. Any amount remaining in the Supply Account may be refunded at the end of the school year or at the end of the semester if the student has been dismissed or withdrawn. If the student is returning, the amount may be applied to the upcoming school year.
Inherent in the program are the daily meals, faculty hall and room supervision, afternoon snacks, services of the evening security guard, study hall supervision, special activities, utilities, weekend supervision, linen services, and other items normally attributed to a boarding program. The fee is non-refundable.
One-to-one classes are based on availability and are designed for the student who:
- Is far below grade and skill levels in a subject;
- Has a learning disability that necessitates several accommodations or an extraordinary amount of individual attention;
- Needs to take two subjects in one year (Example: English I, first semester and English II, second semester). Two years of credit may be earned in one year; prior approval required. A student not completing the course in the allotted time continues into summer school with additional tuition incurred.
- Needs instruction in English as a Second Language (ESL) and has difficulty in a group class;
- Desires a special course or academic level not offered in group classes.
With the approval of the academic office and an assessment of the students involved, the two-to-one classes are limited to two students with similar needs as described above for one-to-one classes. Two-to-one classes are based on the availability of two students desiring the same course.
There is a $500 annual fee to issue and maintain I-20 forms. Certified by the United States Immigration Service to issue I-20 forms to qualifying international students, Brandon Hall does not issue an I-20 until a student is actually admitted to the School. Except as approved by the Director of Admissions, Brandon Hall usually seeks a two-year commitment for those students enrolling to take English as a second language. Brandon Hall asks that international boarding students have a local guardian, a person or family member with whom the student can spend the short-term vacation periods.
Note: School uniforms are not included in the fees and are purchased separately from the Buckhead Uniform Store. Brandon Hall School 1701
