The College Advisement Program |
As a college preparatory school, Brandon Hall School also assists its students in researching and selecting appropriate colleges and universities that will fulfill their academic needs and interests. The school provides The College Handbook which states the school’s policies and procedures. In order to be graduated, each senior is required to apply to a minimum of three (3) colleges and to be accepted to one of those colleges. The school’s goal is to have the student accepted to a college even if he or she decides to wait a year before enrolling. English teachers work closely with students on any required essays. All application materials are reviewed by the college advisor and are mailed from the school to the college to insure that all required forms and information have been completed. The academic office reviews the files of students with learning issues to insure that they have updated psychological/educational evaluations that state accommodations to be implemented both at the college and secondary levels. The office maintains lists of colleges and universities that are known for their support services. Students attend various college fairs in the Atlanta area, and many colleges visit Brandon Hall’s campus. An SAT/ACT course also helps prepare students for taking these two important examinations. In submitting the college applications, the school provides a cover letter describing the student’s attributes, including school activities and community service.
