Basketball Teams Make a State Run
Normally when people think about Brandon Hall athletics, the first thing that comes to mind is Soccer, and Boys and Girls Tennis.
This year, the Brandon Hall basketball program has been on the map in the GISA, setting records in the process.
The girls basketball team is hosting its first ever state tournament game on February 12th, while the boys set the record for number of wins in a season (19 at press time).
The Boys have been led by all region player Jaelin Simpson, who has averaged 23 points a game. He will also be joined by teammate Aaron Strickland in the GISA-SCISA Senior All Star Game.
Varsity Boys Coach Will Long said “The team has battled in region play night in and night out and is ready for what the rest of the state has to offer.”
BH hosts to start a deep run in the state tournament tomorrow night against WIndsor Academy at Memorial Day.
The Lady Panthers are led by all region player Eda Urkmez, who has been #1 on all scouting reports from opposing teams. BH hopes to impress the home crowd with its first ever tourney win against Windsor Academy.
Head Girls Basketball Coach Wayne Wheeler said, ”I think the home crowd will energize us tonight as with the return of Jaden Moore [who was out due to an injury], our team is gelling at the right time.”
Good luck to the Panthers!
