Pim Vijfvinkel Sets Brandon Hall Strikeout Record
On March 25, 2019, the day started out like any other high school baseball game at Brandon Hall’s home field, Roswell Area Park. The Panthers were taking on Flint River Academy in a crucial region game that would have a big impact on the final standings.
Panthers Ace Pim Vijfvinkel ‘19 took the mound and hoped to tame the hot bats of Flint River. As the innings progressed and the strike out numbers grew the scoreboard was not the only thing that the Panther faithful was looking at. Vijfvinkel was continuing to blow the ball the Wildcat hitters with an assortment of pitches.
As the last Flint River batter slowly walked back to his dugout after another strikeout in the 7th inning, the school record number of 16 strikeouts was set. After the game coach Eric McAfee said “In all my years coaching I have never seen a pitcher locate the ball like Pim did today. It was a lot of fun to watch. “
The win improved the Panthers to 1-1 in region for the season and 5-3 overall.
